Fair Hearing Officer

The fair hearing process is extremely sensitive and challenging for many healthcare organizations. In working with our clients, we recognized that they would benefit from having an objective individual shepherd them though the fair hearing process. Hiring an independent fair hearing officer assures objectivity, impartiality and an effective hearing outcome. The Fair Hearing Officer acts in consultation with leadership to provide services in the pre-hearing, hearing and post-hearing phases. The hearing officer collaborates with medical staff leadership to:

Establish the timetable of the hearing
Set specific rules relating to the hearing
Pre-review documents submitted in context of the upcoming hearing
Preside over the hearing
Provide advice or rulings on issues in dispute (admissibility of evidence, competence of witnesses, or procedural matters)
Review the transcripts of the hearing
Assist the decision-making body to draft the written decision
Ensure that there is adherence to the medical staff bylaws
